Meditations on the relationship and interworkings of our physical bodies and our non-physical beings, this series examines the visceral and energetic imprints of our being.
Each piece starts with a ground of sinew and rivelets that evolves out of a steady process of accretion and erosion. Once this is fully developed, a final layer is added that shifts and partially obscures what is underneath. This layer has both a different materiality – glossy and somewhat translucent – and comes about through a much bolder process than the visceral ground. After so much patient, gradual development, completion requires faith, courage, and letting go. All of the work accomplished to this point could be ruined, but one must act quickly and decisively, and the final result is unknown until everything has dried to permanence.
